A .dotmobi (.mobi) is a new top-level
domain approved by ICANN as a sponsored TLD. It is intended
for sites that are designed to be used on cell phones
and other mobile devices

simply outnumbers the Internet subscribers yet revenues
from the “mobile internet” are very small.
With huge market potential of mobile internet, dotmobi
is a powerful new commercial opportunity.

When can I register a .mobi domain name? |
A. For trademark holders .mobi launched
on May2006 with Sunrise Registration Period. Trademark
holders can register their trademark as a .mobi domain
name during Sunrise registration period beginning in
June 2006.
General public may register .mobi domain at the beginning
of the Landrush Registration Period from August 2006.
If you are the holder of a recognized Trademark you
can register your Trademark as a .mobi domain name during
a Sunrise Registration period that begins in June 2006.
Members of the general public may start registering
their .mobi domain names at the beginning of the Landrush
Registration Period that begins on Monday August 28th.

What is the annual cost for a ‘.mobi’
Domain name? |
A. The registration chanrges will be
Rs.7000 for one year. Live Pages will register this
domain through mTLD on behalf of their customers. (
Minimum registration period is of 2 years.)
**Rs. 500/- extra would be charged for processing and
total amount will be non-refundable

· Who is eligible to register a .MOBI domain
name during the Sunrise Period? |
A. Trademark owners will have to provide
the following information when registering their names
during the Sunrise Registration Period
- Trademark name (must be three or more ASCII characters)
- Trademark identification number
- Date of Trademark application (this date must
be before July 11th 2005)
- Date of granting of trademark
- Country of trademark registration
- mTLD's systems and processes have been designed
to make the application as easy as possible however
it will not be possible to process incomplete registrations.
It is up to each applicant to ensure that the information
provided is both complete and accurat
mTLD will randomly verify a trademark owner's
documents during this period.

· First Come, First Served Registrations |
A. mTLD will process requests for Sunrise
using a first-come, first-served basis.The Sunrise Registration
Period begins on Monday June 12th, 2006 and closes on
Monday 21st August 2006. Trademark holders interested
in registering their marks are required to submit the
necessary information to an ICANN and dotmobi accredited
registrar.

· How long can a .MOBI domain name be |
A. Domain names can be composed of
ASCII characters identical to the textual or word elements
of the mark only. Full details are available in the
Sunrise FAQ.
Sunrise registrations are only accepted for a minimum
term of two years up to a maximum of ten.

What is the General Registration Period? |
A. General Registration is the period
during which individuals and organisations may register
their dotmobi domain name through a registrar. General
Registration continues indefinitely.

Who is eligible to register a domain name during
the General Registration period? |
A. Any individual or organisation who
agrees to the terms and conditions of the dotmobi accredited
registrar of the mTLD may register a .mobi domain name
during General Registration.

Can a domain name registered during the General
Registration period be challenged? |
A. Yes, for challenges involving domain
names registered during General Registration –Use
the ICANN Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy.

There is no time limit for a UDRP Challenge.
This can be made at any time against any dotmobi domain
name.

What are the registration terms for domains registered
during General Registration? |
A. Domain names registered during General
Registration must be registered for a minimum of two
years, and may be registered for up to a maximum of
ten years.

When can I transfer a domain registered during
the General Registration period? |
A. A dotmobi domain name registered
during the General Registration period can be transferred
between dotmobi accredited registrars beginning 60 days
after the date of initial registration.

What is the Sunrise Registration Period? |
A. The Sunrise Registration is an exclusive
period of time prior to General Registration when the
owners of Intellectual Property, such as Trademark holders,
have an opportunity to register their desired names
in the .mobi Top Level Domain. It is a service provided
by the dotmobi registry to protect the rights of the
owners of Intellectual Property.

Who is eligible to register a domain name during
the Sunrise Reservations period? |
A. Only those qualified Trademarks
holders may register their domain names during the Sunrise
period.

Who is considered a "qualified" Trademark
owner for the purposes of the Sunrise Registration
Period? |
A. A qualified Trademark owner for
the purposes of the Sunrise Registration Period is anyone
who holds a Trademark or Service mark applied for prior
to July 11, 2005 and granted before the date of the
domain name application.

What is the Sunrise Challenge Period? |
A. This is a period following the end
of the Sunrise Period where a challenge may be lodged
against the awarding of a domain name to a registrant.
The Sunrise Challenge Period begins on Monday, the 28th
of August, 2006 and ends on Friday, the 15th of December,
2006.

When can I transfer a domain registered during
the Sunrise Registration period? |
A. Domain names registered during the
Sunrise Registration period may be transferred shortly
after the end of the Sunrise Challenge period providing
the name has not been challenged.
